The military cape

The cape I'm wearing today is probably one of the cheapeast and most effective items in my wardrobe, purchased in a really crowded Primark during a Christmas shopping tour. The look is rigorously total-black, in line with the cape itself, historically part of the military uniform. The ensemble is warmed by the little shining studs applied to the jeans and by the lurex scarf.

L'abbinamento

Country girl

Another country girl day at my parents' place baking cakes, drawing and drinking lots of tea (courtesy of Michael!) - a real charge for my batteries. Today's outfit definitely follows the line of less is more but very much with has its own personality thanks to the tailored male boy's jacket.

House of Hosiery

From the very first time I saw these tights by House of Holland (see here) I had a crush. I know that they aren't exactly everyone's taste but personally I'm in love with their creative design and with all the collection by the talented Henry Holland (the Eiffeil Tower ones are on the top of my list) - he has designed a cutting edge collection of legwear by mixing sheer and opaque fabrics. I've had this pair since last October and they've been treasured away in one of my drawers for too long.

Down by the river

Hi guys, during these holidays I've been spending some relaxing time with Michael and my family in my parents' house in the north Italian countryside close to Cremona, where I grew up and which I love so much. Today, after a beautiful lunch, we went down to the local river to enjoy some fresh air and hoped to burn off some of the calories we've been taking on board lately,  playing together like kids in our wellies deep in some serious mud. An awesome day!

Here's a selection, in no particular order, of some sketches that I made during the CSM's course last week. Some of  the drawings were made by some great people that I met on the course and which I thought would be worth showing you because I consider them so inspiring, such as the awesome number 13 (as it is posted here) made by the sweatheart Suzanne, an almost-stilist from Germany.

Get the party started!

I just couldn't resist trying on my new electric-blue string ankle boots that I bought (a bargain!) last week on sale at Office, matched with this glamourous girly strapless little frock... I don't know why but these pics remind me a bit "Alice in Wonderland", what do you think?

Christmas in love!

This year under the Christmas tree Michael and I found some lookalike presents, both of us had thought to give a few studs (... are we becoming predictable to each other? Or have I just been talking too much about this little wonder over the last few weeks? I don't know, but either way, I'm really pleased by the result.
I love love love my new Lulu Guinness lips collection clutch, and so seems Mk with his new trainers. Anyway very special and happy Christmas day to everyone, hope you are having a beautiful one.

O semplicemente sto parlando

Wish you a merry Christmas-Eve

These pictures were taken three days ago when I spent some lovely days at Anna's house, a stunning cottage just west of London, where I delighted myself in decorating her Christmas tree, while outside the snow fell. Ever so romantic!
On this special day I'd like to say thanks to the readers of my blog and send to each one of you a personal happy xmas eve.

Last Christmas shopping under the snow

Thankfully today I had my very last shopping christmas day, hope all my purchases will make this christmas even more special and make happy all the special people I love, looking forward to spend some off duty lovely time with my family and friends during these holydays.

Ring passion

During these days of Christmas shopping in London I've hit some of my favorite high-street stores. It's strange but my favorite part of them has been the accessories corner; I seek them out and can get stuck for literally hours. So, it's no wonder that on Oxford Street with accessory corners the size of big-brand stores that I felt like Alice in Wonderland... and my fingers always end up with plenty of rings... my favorite accessory! Here's a selection of what I got my hands on...

In the wild

Some shoe therapy!

Today, after an intensive day of drawing, I decided I needed to pamper myself with a little treat so I went to Selfridges food floor to have a delcious Lola's cupcake... I ended up having three of them and a ginger latte - I had to find some way of warming up after a long walk in the rain! All cheered up I decided to make my way back home, passing through the shoe floor... where, marvel of marvels, there had a sale!!! Immeadiately

Fashion Sketches

As I've told you all over the last days, I'm taking some courses at Central Saint Martins University to improve my sketching skills. I must tell you I'm loving every minute of this experience, not just because I've found the lessons very helpful and amazingly interesting but also because I've met some very smart people.
I hope to be able to show you some of my pieces soon, which right now are chaotic works-in-progress. The particularity of this course is that we we have to work rapidly - we're talking about sketches - to fix the infinitely changing poses of our model and often we're working to loud music to keep the energy and tempo up.
It's fun but also very intense as we're drawing for hours, but at the end of the day I can notice the benefits to my technique.

Second day in London

Soft drawing pencils check, cartridge pad check, collage materials check, a couple of brushes check... what else... a fashion magazine, my camera. I'm trying to store everything in my satchel! I'm definitely ready for the first day of my new course in Central St. Martins! : ) Wish you a great start to the week guys... ah and these are the pics of the stunning number I bought yesterday... isn't it really party-everyday-pa-pa-pa-party-everyday!?!!

Miu Miu Patent studded brogues

Miu Miu patent leather lace-up oxford with tiny silver studs have just jumped into no.1 on my favorite flat shoes list. Statement footwear like these could not pass me by nonchalantly. I find them absolutely perfect and they add instant cool to the everyday look. They're also perfect worn with a pair of black leggings and an elegant tank for alternative evening glamour.

Thanks to my stunning friends, this time I can finally show you some lovely pictures! : ) Taken during one of our pijama parties, usually involving lots of chatting, some dressing up to share our latest purchases, sometimes putting into action the most bizarre make-up tutorials, and others copying music videos with our own virtuoso (if a little crazy) choreography... but most of all having loads of laughs!

From the street with love

Finally my dear friends Meli and Naty from Colombia and Venezuela, currently living in Milan, came to visit my place in Cremona, and I couldn't be more chuffed! We took it easy and relaxed, spending the day just laughing and joking, having a stroll through the market in the city centre and hopping into some of my favorite shops. A perfect girly day!

Look of the day

Today I got up very late, thanks to the negligence of my very best friends Meli, Naty and Esme. We had one of our usual super fun pijama parties last night. The plan of the day is based on some serious girly treats and just to relax with great friends.

Some shopping!

Ok, these days are certainly Christmas shopping days... but not just for family and friends ;). Here are some of my purchases from the Moschino special sale some days ago and some others I just couldn't say no to! : )

Central St. Martins Christmas courses

Last Friday I received the awesome news that next week I'll fly to London to follow some Christmas short courses at Central Saint Martins (one of the best universities for fashion around). They'll be based on fashion drawing. It'll give me the chance to work through some ideas that have been whizzing around in my head - I'm not fomally trained in fashion so these opportunities help me structure my thoughts and make something

Something for the weekend

Over the years I have mastered the technique of making my weekend wardrobe work for me... yes, it's true, sometimes even I like to free up my mind from fashion. In any case, with a long distance relationship it's better to stuff your Balenciaga weekender with the right numbers because you never know where you are going to be... London, Milan, Cremona, Newcastle, who knows?! So to optimize my time I prepare my outfits and pack what I really need, which is why I am a great fan of "key pieces", such as a tailored jacket, an LBD accessorized with a delicate vintage style, and obviously a pair of heels for the evening. I always grab a big comfy bag for the day, such as a satchel that can be worn across the

Think sketchy!

If you are fascinated by the power of fashion as a form of self-expression like me, this is a book I recommend. Let yourself be inspired by the greatest fashion designers and flick through its pages to find the inspiration behind some of the most iconic looks to have graced the catwalk. Over 200 pages are chock-full of sketches and interspersed with unpublished interviews with some of the biggest names in fashion. I would have had this on my Christmas list but I just couldn't hold off until Santa arrived!

The aviator jacket

Shearling is the defining trend this winter; it's sexy, sophisticated but most of all super-snug. There's no getting away from the fact that last winter's big freeze, which blasted the northern hemisphere, has stuck in the mind of designers. With Burberry Prorsum we have seen head-to-toe aviator-inspired shearling worthy of that beloved fictional British adventurer Biggles.

Special sale at Moschino

Thanks to my very sweet friend Naty, I received an invitation to the samples sale of Moschino's autumn/winter 2010-2011 collection at their headquarters in Milan. All the clothes were discounted by 80%, and bags and other accessories by 70%. There was a lot to get through with a good range of choice, or at least for the luckiest like me who had early access - even though they kept refilling the rooms with new stock, the best items ended up on someone's arm pretty swiftly.
I really apologize for the bad quality of these images, due to my excitement I forgot to take my beloved

Clogs for an instant bohemian look

Clogs are still a staple of A/W 2010. I used to love the Miu Miu clogs of days gone by made from tooled/embossed leather, and since then we have seen models in last season's Chanel clogs and then Alexa Chung in Vogue UK last March: very high heels, studded, with the uppers all one colour. I'm fascinated by their northen attitude.

Trends & tips to put you way ahead of the party pack!

Second outfit I put together for the party season, also perfect with a leather jacket for the right rebel attitude.

Welcome home Giuseppe!

Thanks to the special sale at Giuseppe Zanotti Design in Milan, I managed to get my hands on these beautiful peep-toe lace pumps for half the original price. A perfect addition to my shoe stable. Long live the sales!

Cinnamon + Grey

Yesterday I finally managed to take out my vintage Louis Vuitton bag, which I found last September in a vintage market in Cremona - we immediately fell in love! I'm a great fan of vintage and there's nothing quite like feeling the history of a fabulous piece. Moreover, not only is this bag in almost-perfect condition but I was pleased that it had been made with real leather, unlike many recent LV models. (I'm working on a post of my favorite vintage markets - although most of them are in London - which will be

I decided to get organized just in time to find the perfect Christmas gifts. Here's a selection of the treasures I've come across in my "Santa Claus research". It'll be the first of many color-themed compilations... I hope they help generate some gift ideas!

Trends & tips to put you way ahead of the party pack!

Party season is almost here so I decided to create some looks that will keep you rockin' hot on these cold nights. If like me you love the rock-chic style then with these embellishments you won't be afraid to go all-out, just swap your party dress for a night with these sequined trousers for a groupie look. Soften the top with a basic T-shirt and add a bit of grunge to taste by choosing worn materials. The court shoe is hot this season and these leopard print ones are fabulously retro. Mix everything with statement jewelry.

Too many things to do, so little time

Back on track and always in a rush! I left Stockolm yesterday evening, where I had such an awesome time. It's an inspiring place for many reasons, one of which is a refreshing approach to design. I must add that it was nice to be reminded that the North Italian cold is nothing compared to its Scandinavian counterpart.

Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Wood

Here we go, yesterday was a really lucky day because I found a pair of very difficult shoes to find: The Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Wood, on SALE... lucky me! Plus I added some very cute clogs (always on sale), which I bought at Topshop, along with other little treats. Today is our last day in Stockolm with plenty things to see.... have a good day guys!

Yesterday was a really intensive day, passing in and out of museums and art galleries, chatting and drinking with friends and dancing into the night. It was a perfect day despite the cold... gosh it´s getting colder every day! It's so annoying to have to go through the routine of wrapping up in a hundred anti-chill accessories every time you exit a doorway. The good thing is that everybody is always up for a warming hug and a hot chocolate.

Bracing the cold

Our first day in Stockholm was spent absorbing this great city - long walks and warm treats. We met up with our photographer friend Will, who took us round the best of the bar scene. The city has an extra charm right now with Christmas around the corner. There are some inspirational fashion stores. I've only scratched the surface, visiting most of the high-street stores we have in Italy - although I've found loads of items that

Golden Envy

Almost ready for Stockolm : )

Today I'm definiteley in a big hurry! I'm leaving in few hours for Stockolm with Michael, for a short get-away and I still have to pack as much warmie stuff as I can in my hand-luggage that's why I only managed to take these few pictures just behind my building. Hope to get trough to upload some pictures during my jurney. stay tuned! love and share some love.

Sunny day on the river boat

Thanks to this glorious sunny day after loads of blue rainy days, Michael and I (for his very first time) went to have a stroll in the park across the river in my native city Cremona. We took the chance to climb on board a docked boat, which also houses a great restaurant - it was the perfect setting to snap some pictures of the day's outfit.

Big shoulders leather jacket

The shoulder trend that started on Christophe Decarnin's Balmain catwalk for spring/summer 2009 is going strong into autumn/winter 2010-11. 80's power dressing is back with blouses and jackets with exaggerated shoulders matched with short or narrow to maintain a feminine shape.
I also want to mention these awesome bootie shoes, which I found thanks to my very good friend Laura, who knows all the right chiconomic places to buy stunning pieces.

My mad shoe library

I-AM-MAD-FOR-SHOES. There, I've said it. Last summer, in order to have all of them under my gaze, I finally decided to give them the respectable place they're meant to have (I discovered that it's not such an easy procedure when your flat is hardly palatial and you have hundreds of pairs of shoes). I also had to avoid the risk of being trapped under an avalanche

Saturday's purchase

Finally I managed to buy one of my latest objects of desire, the Falabella carry-all bag by Stella McCartney  in black faux suede leather with silver chain embellishment. Renowned for never using leather or fur in her designs, McCartney proves that you don't need these materials to be a success or to be creative. What I love about this bag is its versatility - it can be worn two ways, folded over as a shoulder bag or carried as a tote. I just can't wait to take it out!

Don't get me wrong, I could spend all day in Topshop and I love Primark, but lately I've picked up some really great numbers by D&G, like this sequin skirt. Here I've matched it with some ankle boots to toughen up the look - it's one way of having your legs out without appearing too slinky or ovetly sexy. However, for a more glamorous look the boots can be matched with a backless dress.

That weekend feeling

Today I woke up with that sweet "thank god it's Friday" feeling and the concrete possibility to dedicate more time to the people I love and to the things I like the most. Unfortunately, I'm always very strict with my free time; I'm a working girl and spend most of my day sitting in front of my laptop in my office, so the fact that a week has just breezed by makes me feel happy. Hope you all have a great weekend!

The sheepskin boot

While the latest catwalks have been full of gorgeous looks for spring/summer 2011, we can't ignore the gloomy, wet weather outside. So, to rescue my feet from the rain and plummeting temperatures, I'm indulging my tootsies in a pair of this season's sheepskin boots. The fur and shearling phenomenon for autumn/winter 2010 is thanks mainly to Chanel and the giant iceberg they installed for their catwalk show in Paris back in February. Fur-clad models waded through the melting water like yetis. The trend

The oversized jacket

Good morning everyone! I want to let you know how pleased I am with the momentum of followers my blog is receiving. Even if I've just begun to post, there's a new follower every day and that makes me sooooo chuffed! : )
Today is the turn of the oversized jacket, a recent purchase that seriously tested my credit card, but it was love at first sight. It's a Stella McCartney number. This fall is focused on fit, with a womanly take on masculine

The party frock

I must apologize for the bad quality of these photos, taken at night, during the birthday party of my sister and friend Federica; but, when I downloaded them, I couldn't help but notice how my dress had morphed from immaculate to marked and stained. I suddenly realized my incapacity to respect my beloved frocks once I'm deep in celebration, and the fact that some of my dresses are so disco-damaged that I'll probably have to stop wearing them is the irrefutable proof of what I'm writing. So, my
I know everybody's talking about the H&M for Lanvin collaboration... and so am I. As a devoted supporter of low-cost fashion I couldn't resist saying something about it.
Designed by Lanvin's artistic director Alber Elbaz, and menswear designer Lucas Ossedrijver, the collection will go on sale on November 23 in around 200 H&M stores worldwide.
